There is a group at the Senior’s Center that ‘knits mitts’ for babies and toddlers
for Christmas Cheer. The older children don’t receive knit mitts. Every child
on the Christmas Cheer list is given a pair of mitts but they never have enough
for the older kids. We are hoping that this challenge will fill that void.
We are asking members to save your fleece to make mitts or to donate your
fleece at the May and June meeting for other members to sew mitts. Fleece
should either be a plain colour, have a small print and be at least 1/4 meter.
At our June meeting, there will be a demonstration on how to make the mitts. Patterns for the mitts
will also be distributed for those interested in participating in this challenge.
The ‘challenge’ is to make as many mitts as you wish.
Members who make a minimum of 10 pairs of
mitts will have their name entered in a draw for a prize. The member with the most mitts made will
also receive a prize.
All mitts to be handed in at our meeting in November and they will all be donated to Christmas
Cheer.
